They were just saying that the choreographer of the opening ceremony couldn't possibly have 'hoped' to match the number of people involved in Sydney's opening ceremony, so instead of going for raw numbers, they've gone for the 'less is more' approach.... Which in my opinion is MUCH classier. To me the Sydney way (and for that matter the entertainment at every AFL grand final) is like a christmas tree with as many coloured balls hanging off it as possible. That may be impressive to Shazza and Ken in Narre Warren, call me filthy dirty little snob, but I think its just too much. I'm so impressed with this so far (its only been going for 30 mins)... The av show with the statues is amazing.
PS.. The choir singing the national anthem is a million times better than the tape recording of Julie Anthony.

You are a filthy little dirt snob. More lights, more people, more random glowing things! Don't ever let anyone tell you less is more...they're just trying to make you feel better. I hated the greek opening ceromony...a little too 'ethnic' for my liking.
