This is hardly an original revelation, but up until now I haven't agreed with it: You shouldn't read fiction during semester. After I finished A Clockwork Orange the other night I began The Da Vinci Code.. I won't go into any detailed review because everybody seems to be reading it (or has already read it) but I will say that it is one of the most entertaining stories I've read in a long time. Anyway, I stayed up till 3am reading last night when I had work at 8.30 this morning and have to finish an essay I've barely started tonight...

I'm not asking for sympathy- this is merely a warning to future generations who may think a novel is a good way to entertain themselves. Watch TV..

Retraction

Following the efforts of one Tom Dedman, I completely retract my previous statement about frozen chips being awful. Mr Dedman cooked me the chips as per the instructions in the comments of the post below and they were actually quite good. I think my biggest problem is that i'm not a massive fan of chips to begin with, so when they're not cooked properly (as frozen chips often aren't) I have absolutely no time for them..
It is yet to be seen whether it was the quality of chip or Tom's skill at cooking the chip that was the deciding factor...

For the first time in a couple of years, I reckon they've got the all-australian team spot-on. The only position I would possibly dispute would be Scott West at rover. Maybe you could slot Dal Santo in there instead- you'd have to try and fit him in somewhere wouldn't you?!

A personal congratulations to Chris Judd, who was named on the wing. Chris is a good mate of my friend Tim- a great effort to get all-australian in only his 3rd year of playing.
In keeping with the "i'm a bitter and twisted little man who hates everything" theme of this blog, the following is a (brief) list of blights on humanity:
1. Marcia Hines
2. Mark Holden (in that order, but only just...)
3. Frozen chips
4. The Fremantle Dockers

And conversely, in a gesture some may consider out of character, I nominate peppermint crisp as the greatest invention known to man.

hahaha, i love this! I got my letter from the local (liberal) MP about the election, and of course, its addressed to the men of the house (ie. me and dad).... never mind this is the first federal election I'll be voting in, I managed to outrank my mother in the address panel!!! How quaintly old-fashioned!!!

I'm watching the american republican convention on fox news and its scaring the shit out of me. Some dude saying weapons and fighting are the answer to the world's problems.. suggesting that it is an awful idea to only go to war when the UN agrees on it... accusing americans who question US foreign policy as having a lack of patriotism.. and then tens of thousands of people punctuating every sentence with mad cheering..
politics seems too much like a sport in america- people pick a team, and cheer without even thinking about it... they even had a panel of 'experts' for gaps between speakers- it reminded me far too much of an NFL half-time show.
