What a weekend...

Well, really, what a saturday night. I went to wireless festival with my flatmate Byron where Basement Jaxx headlined. It also happened to be my first trip to Hyde Park. It was a pretty tame start to the day (we arrived around 5) but by the time basement jaxx came on the place was rocking - like 20,000 people just going crazy. Most of you would know that it wouldn't normally be my thing, but the atmosphere was electric, and if you get fucked up enough all music sounds good. But to be fair, they were awesome live and with the atmosphere and the wastedness it all added up to be immeasurably better than the previous two gigs i'd been to.

Here's an idea of it:

Moved on to a party nearby on edgeware road, and finished the night off with some friendly heckling of homeless people - classy...

In other news not much else is happening.....

But watch this space..

For all those dying to see me looking like I'm retarded, this is for you:

I really should have taken sunglasses..

Anyway, hard as it is to believe, its 30 degrees here today with blue skies and sunshine... It was the same yesterday as well and we took advantage of the weather by going on a riverside pub crawl with Byron's brother's mates- from Canary Wharf to Tower Bridge. Had a very fun day, but things began to get a lil fucked up when the sun went down. I won't go into too much detail, because if you're anything like me, you'll just stop reading, but use your imagination to piece together these tidbits: vodka shots, horny slapper solicitor, married man, mate's ex, angry shift worker, ugly wanker, ginger, 3 night buses, wasted girlfriend.

Thats right, I did some vodka shots, had a threesome with a horny slapper solicitor and a married man who's my mate's ex, when an angry shift worker got jealous and called me an ugly, wanker ginger...

What vivid imaginations you all have...

Put it this way, not much of the stuff involved me, but was fucked up enough to seem fucked up to an impartial bystander...

There's been a bit of house politics this week over dossers ('guests' sleeping on the couch). Again, I won't go into too much detail but the house is kinda tense at the moment and has been divided into two warring factions. Luckily I've fallen in with the cool side - the others are losers!!

Elsewise, everything's still moving along here. Hana's contract's been extended at the magazine, and could be ongoing, I'm still battling away in the post room and so forth... I'll write again when I have something to say.

We've survived our first foray onto the Continent!

Paris was amazing. We had sunshine and blue skies the whole weekend, a sunset bateau mouche down the Seine and a three-course dinner in the Latin Quarter.

We failed in our attempts to get to bed early the night before (we had to be up at 4 to get to the airport around 5 for a 6.45 flight) and it almost ruined the entire weekend. Having missed the 4.40 bus (I wonder why...), we didn't end up arriving at Heathrow until 6, and after 10 minutes (literally) running around trying to find the terminal, we managed to check-in at 6.10 - five minutes before the desk closed. First time I've ever had to run for a flight... But we made it. We also had trouble finding a place to have a drink on Saturday night... one bar near Notre Dame was selling pints for €10. We left... Spent half an hour wandering around the latin quarter - the student area apparently - trying to find a bar, but there wasn't a drop to be found.

But they were the only issues and all in all a good weekend. Special thanks go out to Jimmy D for getting me commission free euros and the camp flight attendant on BMI who got me a second sandwich - without your help this trip would not have been nearly as enjoyable...

Praise be to Jevus...

The Church was ... enlightening ... And by enlightening I mean messy.. Tequila shots to start the day at 10am, Hana can't remember anything between 12 and 9 and my flat-mate Byron shagged some bird in the toilets of Shepherd's Bush maccas. Fuck getting wasted in the Church on a sunday, THAT is defiling a sacred place! Ronald must be turning in his grave... So in response to Pi(e)'s comment to my last post; Yes, god loves me. And I love him. So much so that I plan on visiting his house of worship on as many Sundays as I can manage..

Work was made even more testing on Monday by all 3 of the permanent staff taking the day off sick, leaving just me and the other temp, Kelvin. Proof that the job can actually be done by 2 (hungover) people with enough time left over for me to read the newspaper cover to cover...

In other news, we went to see Beck at the Apollo last Wednesday, which was really good. Got the tickets for £10 - bargain.. We're probably gonna go see Aus v NZ soccer friendly. It'd be silly if we didn't really.. Its at Craven Cottage - about 5 minute walk from our place. None of the kiwis are that keen cause they know they're gonna get pumped, so it'll probably end up being me and Hana singing Waltzing Matilda at the Hammersmith End...

Its Hana's 21st Birthday tomorrow, but celebrations will be limited by the number of people we know in London and the fact that everyone has work the next day. We treated Sunday as though it was her birthday, and we're planning an un-birthday at some point later on as well as Paris this weekend...

St Kilda's form is very worrying, but at least it doesn't look like I'm gonna miss our first flag for 40 years.. Its so nice that Grant and the lads decided to put it off till next year for me.... Meanwhile Franky Lee is in top form and pushing for a home final...

Cheers for the comments last week, especially Pies and Kelly... I was worried you guys had died or something!.. Keep it up..

Well, it has been a while hasn't it...

I haven't written for so long because nothing has really been happening. Its not as though we're not doing anything, and we're bored/ing - just nothing of much interest to most people. Believe me, I've done you all a favour withholding posts like "Got wasted at the walkabout on Friday then dyed my white shirts blue on Sunday because one wasn't colourfast.." (which is essentially my weekends in a nutshell for the past month). I'm kind of ashamed to admit it, but the walkabout has become our regular. We're departing from that this weekend so we can spend Sunday at Church... A bar in an old church, only open on Sundays. God I love sacrilege...

Last weekend was the end of May Bank Holiday (as opposed to the beginning of May Bank holiday! ...so lazy...) and whilst Hana and I didn't manage to get out of London (left it too late and everything was way too expensive), we just explored London a bit more - there's still plenty we haven't seen here. On Saturday we went to Greenwich which is really nice and we had decent weather which meant we could enjoy the park there. Then on Sunday we went on a bike ride along the Thames to Richmond with our house-mate Stu, which was also really nice. Had lunch and a few beers at a riverside pub... I've also booked cheap(ish) tickets to Paris for Hana's birthday next weekend so I'm really looking forward to that and I'll be sure to let you know how it goes when we get back.

In other news, Hana and I went to see Ben Folds at the Apollo (round the corner from us) last night. Got the tickets off a scalper for £15 (£10 off face-value) and was definitely worth it.. Even Tommy, the most avid of Ben Folds haters would have liked when he did a melodic, piano-accompanied version of Bitches Ain't Shit. He's a funny guy and put on a good show - he made piano cool before Delta Goodrem! Had a (slim) chance of getting tickets to Glastonbury, but blew it. Orange were offering customers tickets via their wap page for a couple of days, and I reckon I spent £5 trying, but couldn't get anywhere. They've just announced a massive Live-aid concert in Hyde Park. Tickets are free and are allocated in a MCC-style lottery, so we'll be trying for that too.

Work's going well.. They've extended my contract indefinitely and it looks like there's a good chance I'll be here till I want to leave London... Still doing nothing, but I'm getting paid well, and the lads are good quality. They're teaching me how to speak proper..... Couldn't really have asked for a better job to do here. Hana's started work as a web content editor for a magazine, and is going well. Its only 3 weeks temp, but there's a chance it'll be extended like mine.. She'll be in the credits in the next issue.. How exciting..

Elsewise nothing much happening. Good to hear basketball's going ok, although there seems to be a bit of bitchiness which I don't really understand. And most importantly, Franky Lee is still challenging near the top of the ladder. Should be a walkover against the pharmers this weekend which will keep the pressure on the top two..

Try and leave a comment this time, guys. Even if its only a couple of lines, I haven't heard much from anyone recently, so it'd be good to hear how everyone's going..

Anyway, I'll post again soonish so keep checking back.
